Archive Utility is a native app included freely with the Mac Operating System. No third-party apps are required to follow these instructions.

If reading this, it is safe to assume you’ve had it with manually compressing files and folders. Luckily someone before you ran into the same situation and created a solution (at least for Mac): #AllHail #ArchiveUtility

So do this:

  1. Open Archive Utility
  2. In Finder — highlight the files and folders to be compressed
  3. From Finder—drag and drop selected files/folders onto the Archive Utility App icon in the desktop toolbar
  4. Success

Watch it in action:

What makes me the expert: Exporting files is the last major step in the HTML5 Interactive Display Ad development process for Media Outlets. Consider compressing 30+ banner ads in a typical media campaign and quickly this shortcut offers so many benefits.
